The AI in Government Community is a collaborative space designed for public servants to engage in conversations, insights, ideas and resources on the use of AI in government from your peers across the globe.
Event Description
Still nodding along in AI conversations, hoping no one asks questions? AI might be reshaping how governments work, but for many, it still feels abstract and inaccessible. This session offers a clear, judgement-free starting point for public servants ready to understand what AI is—without the hype or technical jargon.
You’ll unpack the key terms and concepts behind AI, explore where it’s already in use across the public sector and gain the language and confidence to discuss it with colleagues and stakeholders. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your foundational understanding, this event sets the stage for deeper learning and meaningful engagement with emerging technologies.
A panel of practitioners and experts will share real examples, straightforward insights and practical guidance on what AI is, what it isn’t and how it works.

Barbora Bromová, helps UNDP teams, Governments and local partners develop and scale community-driven data governance solutions for responsible artificial intelligence. She specialises in digitising under-resourced and Indigenous languages to harness multilingual AI systems for inclusive digitalisation, sustainable development, and resilient public service. She draws on an academic background that combines law and computational social science at Sciences Po Paris, Hertie School Berlin and the University of Amsterdam, complimented by insights from professional experiences with the OECD Observatory for Public Sector Innovation, prg.ai, and the European Press Prize.
Joseph Castle, a technology consultant, strategist, and engineer, specializes in designing innovative enterprise and digital solutions. His expertise extends to leading research in emerging technologies such as open-source software, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). With over two decades of experience in the U.S. federal government, Dr. Castle held leadership positions at The White House and the U.S. General Services Administration. During his tenure, he spearheaded national and international information technology programs, developed and implemented policies and laws, and engaged with public sector, industry, and academic audiences. As a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, Dr. Castle actively supports various veterans’ organizations. He serves as a board member of Soldiers’ Angels, a member of The Army and Navy Club, and volunteers for PGA Hope. Dr. Castle holds multiple advanced academic degrees, including an MBA, MS in information systems, and a PhD in public administration and public affairs. He currently resides in Maryland with his wife and two children.
Cezary Gesikowski, has over 20 years of experience in AI innovation, digital transformation, communications, change management, and policy research. Currently, he is the AI & Innovation Capability Development Lead at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where he has developed and is implementing an Innovation, Automation, and AI Acceleration program to support various government operations. Cezary uses collective intelligence and design thinking to help teams solve complex problems while leveraging AI. He develops AI training programs, promotes agile practices, and builds partnerships to enhance technology adoption. Cezary regularly explores and shares insights about the connections between art, philosophy, public good and technology via blogs, articles, and engagement with online communities.
