Values & Guidelines

Apolitical is a network of public servants and policymakers from around the world working to make government smarter. These are our values.

1. Collaborate and help

We learn from each other, first and foremost. We contribute to conversations on working in government and help each other wherever we can. We answer questions, make introductions and offer resources.

2. Respect each other

We listen to all voices and give thoughtful responses. We champion differences. We believe in equality and inclusion. We celebrate each other’s successes. We are warm in our interactions and assume good intent.

3. Stay inspired

We believe in the positive impact that government can have on people and the planet. We’re optimistic about the work we do, and we inspire each other by sharing our experiences.

4. Remain apolitical

Apolitical is a space to collaborate on ideas and shared challenges for public servants everywhere. To preserve a space built on trust, collaboration and sharing, we ask that members keep their contributions apolitical — neutral, unbiased, and without pursuing any particular political agenda. 

Every day, members share their experiences and knowledge with each other. When you contribute to Apolitical, you agree to uphold our values.

Anything you contribute on Apolitical should be relevant to the experience of working in government and benefit the learning of public servants.

To maintain a trusted, safe space for the community, we don’t allow contributions that:

• Don’t benefit the learning of public servants 

• Contain inappropriate or abusive language

• Are demeaning or harmful to other members

• Contain factually incorrect information

• Are plagiarised, copied or fail to acknowledge sources

• Pursue a specific political agenda

• Are self-promotional 

• Aim to slander individuals, departments, or governments

We reserve the right to remove any content that does not meet or violate our community guidelines at our discretion, in line with our Terms and Conditions.
