The AI in Government Community is a collaborative space designed for conversations, insights, ideas and resources on the use of AI in government from your peers across the global public service. This community is open to all Apolitical members.

The AI Skills Lab is a monthly series of virtual, 30-minute events, brought to you as part of the Government AI Campus. Think of them as your shortcut to working smarter, one task at a time, with tips and hacks from public servants already using AI regularly to augment their work.
This session focuses on research: the time-consuming but essential task at the heart of policymaking and delivery. You’ll discover how AI can help you cut through mountains of information, speed up synthesis and ask sharper, more strategic questions.
One expert speaker will share their practical tips, tools and prompts for using AI to scan documents, extract insights and refine your thinking.

Brendan Arnold
Creative Technologist, Policy Lab

Brendan Arnold, who works at Policy Lab, a policy innovation unit at the Department for Education, is likely the UK government’s first Creative Technologist. He operates the Pol.is system inside of Policy Lab and uses AI for sensemaking of the qualitative data it generates as well as in his research around policy topics. He is also involved with efforts to spread creative technology as a practice throughout government and is building a network of others in government who combine design-thinking, creativity and deep-tech knowhow with their other lines of work.
