Over 5,400 public servants across Canada signed up to take How to be digital in the Canadian public service. Now, it’s time to go deeper.
In the last micro-course, we examined what it looks like to develop a digital culture in your department or organisation.
This second free online micro-course will focus on the processes and business models of being digital, from how to work on an agile team to mastering different design methodologies.
In the next two micro-courses, we'll take a closer look at technology and finally, learn about the digital process lifecyle.
What you need to know
- What: 6 weekly 20-minute email lessons
- When: You'll receive your first lesson straight away
- Who: All Canadian public servants. You don’t need to have taken the previous micro-course, but if you’d like, you can catch up here.
- Cost: Free!
You'll learn how to:
- Understand what human-centred design is and why it is essential for public servants
- Discuss how Agile is being used in government and how you can bring it into your team
- Explain how evaluation and analytics are used to measure the impact of providing digital solutions to users

- Lesson 2: Discovering user-centered design methodologies
- Lesson 3: How to bring agile working to your team
- Lesson 4: How inclusive design ensures we design for all users
- Lesson 5: Building the right digital team
- Lesson 6: Measurement and analytics
You’ll have the opportunity to collect badges and earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service: Processes and business models’ micro-course certificate of completion.
By completing all 4 micro-courses, you will earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service’ course certificate.
