Over 5,400 public servants across Canada signed up to take How to be digital in the Canadian public service. Now, it’s time to go deeper.
In the last three micro-courses, we’ve examined what it looks like to develop a digital culture in your department or organisation, explored the processes and business models of being digital, and took a closer look at technology.
This final free online micro-course in the ‘Continue being digital’ series, developed in collaboration with the Ontario Digital Service, will focus on the digital process lifecycle.
What you need to know
- What: 5 weekly 20-minute email lessons
- When: You'll receive your first lesson straight away
- Who: All Canadian public servants. You don’t need to have taken the previous micro-course, but if you’d like, you can catch up on the earlier micro-courses: Culture here, Processes & Business Models here, and Technology here.
- Cost: Free!
You'll learn how to:
- Identify the steps involved in developing digital products and services
- Understand how to conduct user research and how to meet their needs
- Describe the protyping and launching stages of the digital process lifecyle
Lesson plan:
- Lesson 1: Beginning discovery: Research planning
- Lesson 2: Know thy user
- Lesson 3: Discovery continued: user testing, insight gathering
- Lesson 4: Prototyping and alpha: making new things to test new ideas
- Lesson 5: Beta and Live: launching a service to the public
You’ll have the opportunity to collect badges and earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service: Digital process lifecycle’ micro-course certificate of completion.
By completing all 4 micro-courses, you will earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service’ course certificate.
