Join the Government Comms Community
The Government Comms Community is a space to connect with peers working in Comms in governments and departments around the world. Join to share insights and best practices with the global public service community.
Event Description
People turn to digital platforms and social media for news, answers and reassurance. Governments need to make the most of this powerful medium to engage the public on the impact of their work.
That’s why public servants should stop thinking of social media as the responsibility of the comms team alone. It must be considered a frontline channel where policies are explained, crises are managed and trust is built. Getting it right means understanding tone, timing and transparency in ways that speak directly to the people you serve.
In this session, you will hear case study examples of government teams who have navigated the risks and opportunities of government communication and worked hard to build trust online. They will share practical approaches to building credibility and avoiding the common social media pitfalls.
