The Net Zero Community for Government
The Net Zero Community for Government is an online space for public servants working on or interested in reaching net zero to connect with one another. It also serves as a collaborative environment to share successes, seek advice on overcoming obstacles, or simply find solidarity in your efforts in working on net zero in government.
Event Description
In the context of climate change, governments and policymakers must design frameworks that encourage individuals, businesses and communities to take proactive steps to reduce their carbon footprint. Voluntary climate action has the potential to significantly accelerate progress towards global climate goals, yet it often faces barriers without the right incentives.
This panel, featuring speakers from the Race to Zero campaign and France's ACT Initiative, explored how government departments might engage with the private sector to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, liveable future.

Sophie Proust, Development Manager at ACT Initiative. ACT is part of ADEME, The French Agency for Ecological Transition. ADEME is firmly committed to fighting global warming and the depletion of the earth’s natural resources through mobilising citizens, economic actors and territories towards a fairer, more harmonious, low carbon and resource-efficient society.
Char Love, who believes in the power of business as a force for good and has first-hand experience in what it is like to be an entrepreneur, is an intrapreneur and a systempreneur. She is Co-Founder and Activist in Residence at B Lab UK, where she supports the growth of B Corps across the UK (and beyond) and is Co-Chair of B Lab’s Global Climate Taskforce. Charmian is committed to helping accelerate the transition to a more regenerative, circular and inclusive economy. She has contributed to leading publications including HBR, Wired, Fast Company, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Pioneers Post & The Guardian, and has sat spoken as a moderator or panellist at events including COP26, Skoll World Forum, Global Venturing Symposium, The Economist Impact Investment Summit and Wired Smarter.
Tessa Vincent, Race to Zero’s Policy & Engagement Lead, leading on engagement with many Race to Zero Accelerators and Partners, and on how the campaign can support a move from voluntary action, into net zero policy and regulation. Tessa has a Law and Politics background and has worked for Judges, Members of Parliament and a Minister in Aotearoa, New Zealand. She has experience in the NGO sector enhancing climate philanthropy and setting up coalitions to improve food security and tackle food waste. Tessa moved to the United Kingdom in 2022 to study a Masters of Public Policy at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.
