Continue being digital in the Canadian public service: Technology

Over 5,400 public servants across Canada signed up to take How to be digital in the Canadian public service. Now, it’s time to go deeper.

In the last two micro-courses, we’ve examined what it looks like to develop a digital culture in your department or organisation, and explored the processes and business models of being digital, from how to work on an agile team to mastering different design methodologies.

This third free online micro-course in the ‘Continue being digital’ series, developed in collaboration with the Ontario Digital Service, will focus on technology — an essential part of being digital in the public service.

What you need to know

• What: 6 weekly 20-minute email lessons
• When: You'll receive your first lesson straight away
• Who: All Canadian public servants. You don’t need to have taken the previous micro-course, but if you’d like, you can catch up on the first micro-course on Culture here and the second micro-course on Processes & Business Models here.
• Cost: Free!

You'll learn how to:

• Discuss the ethical, privacy and security implications of digital government
• Identify the procurement changes needed to support digital government
• Summarise how future technologies will influence digital government

You’ll have the opportunity to collect badges and earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service: Technology’ micro-course certificate of completion.

By completing all 4 micro-courses, you will earn a ‘Continue being digital in the Canadian public service’ course certificate.
