Dr Anupama Sen, Head of Policy Engagement for the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. Prior to the Smith School she spent over 10 years at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, where she was Senior Research Fellow, Executive Director of the Electricity Research Programme and Deputy Director of the Energy Transition Initiative. Anupama has published extensively on electricity sector restructuring and reform in the context of the energy transition in non-OECD Asia, the transition to renewables in resource-rich economies in the Middle East and North Africa, energy pricing reforms, and the impact of the energy transition on international energy markets. She has a strong interest in the socio-economic implications of the energy transition, its implications for energy consumers, producers and governments, and in the circular economy in relation to energy.
Alexis McGivern, Net Zero Standards Manager at Oxford Net Zero. She brings a policy background forged during her time at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Gallifrey Foundation, working on issues of plastic pollution. She created Plastic Free Campus, a programme to support schools to go plastic-free, and established partnerships with UN agencies to develop two educational comic books on plastic pollution, which have since been translated into eight languages. Alexis was previously Education Director of the School of Climate Change, an eight-week course that covers the basics of climate science from the policy and legal challenges of climate change all the way through to the range of potential solutions. She also co-founded 26,000 Climate Conversations, an initiative to encourage meaningful conversations about climate outside of the climate echo chamber and encourage grassroots change from a wider range of stakeholders.
Vicky Lucas, Head of Executive Education. Vicky develops executive education with engaging and learner-focused content as a priority, whilst enabling academic research to be communicated to a wide audience. After reading physics at Manchester and Surrey, Vicky spent several years as a meteorologist and air quality scientist, including providing the scientific basis for environmental regulations and policies in New Zealand and environmental compliance for electricity generation in the UK.
