Urte Macikene, Policy and External Affairs Manager at Healthwatch England, where she has led campaigns and projects on issues including accessible information in the NHS, hospital discharge, the NHS complaints system, A&E access standards, digital exclusions and remote care. She was previously a Policy and Parliamentary Adviser for The Hepatitis C Trust, a patient-led charity that conducts advocacy across the four nations in the UK and delivers peer support programmes in prisons and drug treatment centres.
Gary Jevon, CEO of Healthwatch Wakefield. Gary is responsible for running all facets of the organisation, and is passionate about the opportunities this presents: a chance to champion people’s voices so that service providers and commissioners know what it’s really like to use health and care services across the district; being able to provide information, advice and signposting in a world which is often difficult to navigate; and having the privilege of listening to people who contact Healthwatch, being able to show that the organisation cares and will do our best to help. Gary has over 20 years of experience in a clinical role as an advanced practitioner radiographer.
Abigail Gorman, Policy and Public Affairs Manager at SignHealth UK, joined the Deaf health charity SignHealth as a Young Person Violence Advisor in 2017 and is now the Policy and Public Affairs manager. She has led campaigns and projects on a variety of issues relating to health, domestic abuse, psychological therapy, and social care. Abigail is the Vice-Chair of Friends of Frank Barnes, the charity partner for Frank Barnes school for the deaf and a board member of the British Deaf Association. She is also a member of the Human Rights Expert group for the World Federation of Deaf People (WFD) and co-founder of Deaf Rainbow UK
