The Net Zero Community for Government is a dedicated space for public servants working on or interested in reaching net zero to connect with one another. It also serves as a collaborative environment to share successes, seek advice on overcoming obstacles, or simply find solidarity in your efforts in working on net zero in government.

What are India’s leading climate initiatives and what can the world learn? Home to the world’s largest population and immense green energy potential, India is a pivotal player in the global fight against climate change. With ambitious emissions reduction targets and innovative programmes, India’s climate actions set a significant example.
In this event, we’ll delve into India’s progress on climate and net zero, examining the successes and lessons from its unique journey. From renewable energy expansion to community-driven sustainability initiatives, we’ll unpack the strategies that have shaped its efforts.
Join this session to explore achievements, challenges and insights, and connect with public service peers to discuss how India’s approach can inspire and inform climate action in your own context. You’ll hear from public servants leading India’s green transition as they share valuable lessons and open the floor for conversation, offering insights for civil servants and climate leaders around the world.
This event will take place on Zoom. Joining instructions will be displayed once you register. The event will be recorded and the recording will be sent to all registrants. It may also be made available on Apolitical's platform for other members of our community to enjoy.

India
Karthik Ganesan, Fellow and Director at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), is a seasoned researcher specialising in energy and environmental issues, with a focus on India's electricity system. Over the last decade he has been instrumental in conceptualising and building a number of research verticals at CEEW, and brings an edge to the organisation’s quantitative policy analysis work. As Director, Strategic Partnerships, he now dons the hat of internal adviser across research teams and creates institutional platforms and partnerships that strengthen CEEW's foundation for world-class research and enhance its impact. Karthik holds a Master degree in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and an M.Tech in Infrastructure Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He’s an avid birder, Scrabbler and can spend hours talking about the benefits of composting.
Shloka Nath, is the CEO of the India Climate Collaborative, a non-profit focused on mobilising philanthropic capital to accelerate climate action in India. Prior to this, she led the Sustainability and Policy &; Advocacy portfolios at the Tata Trusts, one of India’s leading philanthropic foundations. She is currently a Trustee at the CSMVS, the Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society, and a board member of IIT Madras’ Energy Consortium, among numerous other positions. She is also the author of the book, “Hidden India: Journey to Where the Wild Things Are” (April 2018), a compendium of photographs and writing about Indian wildlife and landscapes.
