Event Description
How can generative AI help public servants prepare for complex challenges? In this interactive Show & Tell, we’ll explore how AI can serve as a “practice partner” for scenario-based preparedness exercises. Hosted by Michael Baskin, this session will dive into real-world applications of GenAI in disaster response, emergency planning, and dynamic training for city executives and teams. Whether you’re new to AI or already experimenting with it, this event is a chance to learn from peers, see AI in action, and discuss how it can help build more adaptive organisations.

Michael Baskin

Michael Baskin, a public sector executive coach and facilitator of organizational evolution in local government, currently serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for Montgomery County MD. There, he leads a team working with the people of Montgomery County government building power and organizing systems to meet our communities’ needs. Previously, Michael helped cities from from Miami to Las Vegas launch their own innovation programs, designed and launched a learning network of mayors and municipalities growing civic and voter engagement, and convened a coalition of local governments ensuring everyone counts in the 2020 Census. Michael served as the Chief Policy and Innovation Officer for Chattanooga, TN working on issues from policing to permitting while re-designing the Outcomes Based Budgeting process to connect strategy, people, and resources. Past experience includes data analytics, brand marketing, and performance management for Anheuser Busch InBev, and communications for Alipes CME. He loves playful street art, storytelling, and all things outdoors.
