Event Description
One of the first rules of effective writing is ‘know your audience’. This seems simple at first glance, but who is the audience for you as public servants? Politicians? Journalists? The public? The complex nature of your work means that the answer is all of the above, and more.
Effective government requires public servants who are able to skillfully tailor their writing to a variety of readers and contexts. In the second instalment of Apolitical’s 2024 Writing Event Series, our panel of experts—seasoned writers from both inside and outside government— shared their tips on how to write with audiences in mind.
Watch to learn useful techniques to adapt your writing style to the needs of different readers so that your work gets the attention it deserves.
