• Pablo Sobrino, who retired from the Canadian Public Service in 2015 after 38 years, had a career that began in 1977 with the Canadian Coast Guard working aboard ships and worked in regions and headquarters up to Regional Director Marine Programs (Pacific) in 1997. In 2000, he began work with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and in 2002, became Regional Executive Director for Canadian Heritage Western Region. In 2006, he returned to Ottawa, as Director General, Strategic Policy, Planning, and Research including Cabinet Affairs at Canadian Heritage. He subsequently became Assistant Deputy Minister Strategic Policy, Planning and Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer. In August 2011, he started in the Acquisitions Branch at Public Works and Government Services Canada. He spent his last year in public service at the Canada School of the Public Service. Post-retirement, he continues to work with Public Services and Procurement Canada, the Canada School of the Public Service, and Shared Services Canada, and other departments when they have a need. Pablo is married, lives in Ottawa and enjoys his time watching his youngest daughter grow and hearing from his three oldest when they do call from across the country.
