Why do emails inspire more frustration than enthusiasm? Returning from leave, the sight of an overflowing inbox can feel overwhelming. Too many messages to get through, unclear requests or overly long updates — it’s no wonder emails often go unread.
Yet, written communication is essential in government. Crafting clear, structured and engaging emails can make all the difference in getting the right message across. Join us for a conversation to hear from three expert communicators who will share tools and techniques for writing emails that are clear, relevant, and acted upon.

Dr Stuart Thomson, is a public affairs specialist with over 25 years' experience. He advises clients on all aspects of their political and corporate communications, and reputation management. He has also worked on a number of high profile media relations and crisis communications programmes. Stuart runs his own consultancy, CWE Communications, is a member of the PRCA Board and a CIPR Chartered PR Practitioner (Chart. PR). He is the author of books including ‘Public Affairs in Practice’, ‘Public Affairs: A Global Perspective’ and ‘Reputation in Business: Lessons for Leaders’. His new book, 'The Company and the Activist: Going Beyond PR', has just been published by Routledge. He is an adviser to the Entrepreneurs Network (TEN), a regular speaker and chair at conferences and delivers training for the PRCA, CIPR and Dods. Stuart is also a mentor for 'I Have A Voice'.
