Élise Legendre, Élise was appointed Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) Chief Data Officer in the summer of 2021. She leads a small, passionate team of policy and IT professionals dedicated to harnessing and unleashing the power of data to improve service delivery and to support the sector’s sustainable growth. In 2003, after having worked in strategic marketing in the private sector for nearly 12 years, her career with the federal public service began as a Commerce Officer with AAFC. She has since held positions in several branches, including Strategic Policy, Corporate Management and Programs. She is passionate about the role of government and the impact it can have to improve the quality of life for Canadians. *********************** Élise a été nommée Dirigeante principale des données d’Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada (AAC) pendant l’été 2021. Elle dirige une petite équipe passionnée de professionnels des politiques et TI qui se consacrent à exploiter et à libérer le pouvoir des données pour améliorer la prestation des services et soutenir la croissance durable du secteur. En 2003, après avoir travaillé en marketing stratégique dans le secteur privé pendant près de 12 ans, sa carrière dans la fonction publique fédérale a débuté en tant qu’agente de commerce à AAC. Elle a depuis occupé des postes dans plusieurs directions générales, notamment celles des politiques stratégiques, de la gestion intégrée et des programmes. Elle est passionnée par le rôle du gouvernement et l’mpact qu’il peut avoir pour améliorer la qualité de vie des Canadiens.
Andy Fan, works at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where he most recently held a role in helping advance the responsible and ethical adoption of AI and robotic process automation technologies. In 2024, Fan and his team launched the Government of Canada’s first public-facing generative AI chatbot – designed to provide conversational information on government programs and services in agriculture, this initiative set a new standard for AI-driven citizen engagement.
