• Qi Wang, a passionate public servant. Qi feels privileged to be the Director of Strategic Policy and Planning at the Canada Council for the Arts since spring 2021, and contributing to the rebuilding of a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable arts sector. Prior to this, Qi was the inaugural Director of the Policy Community Partnership Office, which convenes and enables the Government of Canada’s policy practitioners and helps them evolve their practices. Qi has a strong policy background having worked in strategic policy and policy development in a wide-array of organizations (e.g., the Privy Council Office, Natural Resources Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada). Qi is an arts enthusiast, avid runner, dragonboater and self-professed foodie.

• Richard Banks, Deputy Director, Policy Profession Unit. Richard has headed up the Policy Profession Unit for UK Government since October 2013, responsible for coordinating its collective efforts to professionalise policy making and build a clearer structure around such diverse work (from Apprenticeship to Senior Civil Servants). During this time Richard has also been the Deputy Head of Policy Profession in the Department of Health and Social Care and is now based from DfE. Richard’s experience includes a broad range of capability and service improvement roles across public services including frontline benefit offices, local government housing, homeless and drug and alcohol services, and voluntary sector and social enterprise development.
