How behavioural science can make government more effective

ndividuals are at the centre of government service provision. So their behaviour – the decisions they make, and the actions they take – can make a huge difference to how governments work.

Behavioural science, which combines insights from psychology, economics, neuroscience and other allied fields, complements more traditional approaches in providing a deeper understanding of the problems that governments face internally, and innovative ideas for how to tackle them. This can be particularly valuable in resource-constrained environments where other solutions may not be available or affordable, since behavioural solutions often offer large impact for a small cost.

In this workshop, ideas42 – a non-profit applied behavioural science organisation – will introduce you to behavioural science and how behavioural science solutions can be employed to tackle a wide range of problems faced by governments. You’ll also have the chance to see how such solutions are being deployed in practice with real world examples.
