Evagelia Emily Tavoulareas, Managing Chair of the Georgetown Initiative on Tech & Society. Emily also teaches at the McCourt School for Public Policy and the Capitol Applied Learning Labs, and is a Research Fellow at the Siegel Family Foundation. Emily has studied and worked at the nexus of technology and the public interest for nearly 20 years. In her life prior to academia, she was a founding member of the U.S. Digital Service and a Senior Advisor to the CTO of the United States.
Shelby Switzer, Fellow, Intergovernmental Software Collaborative at the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation, Georgetown University. Shelby is a civic technologist with a background in community organizing, open source software, and writing. Before joining the Beeck Center, they worked in a variety of roles at the intersection of society and technology, from volunteering with Code for America brigades and running open source conferences and hackathons, working in civic tech and social justice based startups, to most recently serving the public as a federal employee with the US Digital Service (USDS). At USDS, they built API products and data infrastructure at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), launched open public health infrastructure projects with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and led the open source community and USDS engineering team supporting Justice40, a whole-of-government environmental justice initiative.
Lisa Ventura Garcia, Digital Transformation Project Manager at the Regional Government of the Azores. Lisa established the Government of the Azores web federation and led a team of 200+ content editors in 79 government services.
