5-Minute Conversation: 5 Points

During the next week take 5 minutes to discuss with a colleague the following:

  • The 10 most important characteristics of servant leaders are said to be: listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardess, commitment to growth of others and building community.
  • Take some time to reflect on which of these characteristics you can commit to building over the coming weeks.

Homework

5-minute activity: 5 Points

Commit to trying at least one item over the next week.

  • Ask colleagues what help they need to do their jobs.
  • Use brainwriting exercises to flatten hierarchy in meetings and make sure everyone’s voices are heard. Brainwriting differs from brainstorming in that it allows everyone an opportunity to write down their thoughts individually on pieces of paper. This can work better for introverts who can participate equally.
  • Identify other learning opportunities to build your own skills.
  • Ask more questions.
  • Listen more than you speak.
