Victoria, Australia, is tackling inequality in the tech sector by employing nine female designers, programmers and user experience experts in a highly successful government innovation scheme. The program is small, but has high public visibility because of its political setting and the success of a previous round. As a result, participants are seen as important role models. The program has two aims: reduce gender barriers by increasing the representation of women in tech, and improve the delivery of public services through innovation.
