San Francisco has created a social network to help residents survive the crucial first 72 hours after a natural disaster like an earthquake. Users can create emergency plans, stock up on supplies and, in the case of emergency, see real-time information about escape routes and shelters. The collaboration with design agency IDEO intends to motivate residents to make preparations by making preparedness fun and social.
