Quebec will fight food insecurity and reduce its carbon footprint by helping more than 600 supermarkets donate all unsold produce, meat and baked goods to local food banks. After a successful two-year pilot, the Supermarket Recovery Program will expand province-wide to feed some 400,000 Quebecers. While there are other food recovery programs in Canada, nothing on this scale has ever been attempted.
