If AI is truly intelligent, why is it called "artificial"? The word artificial implies imitation, simulation, or something robotic—non-natural and lacking genuine consciousness.

This contradiction invites us to explore what AI really is, how it works, and what role it plays in society.

Understanding the Nature of AI

AI is not intelligent in the human sense. It does not think, feel, or possess awareness. Instead, it is a software system built by humans using programming languages like Python, powered by algorithms and data.

These systems are designed to perform tasks that mimic human intelligence—such as recognizing speech, translating languages, or predicting outcomes.

Example: ChatGPT

Open AI’s ChatGPT is a conversational AI trained on vast amounts of text data. It can answer questions, write essays, and simulate dialogue—but it doesn’t understand meaning the way humans do. It generates responses based on patterns, not comprehension.
