We asked members of the Apolitical Community to write-up a prospective “exit memo” for their role to increase visibility of the different kinds of work being done across government.

**Job Title: **Associate Director - Strategic Projects

How would you describe your job to a friend?

I help work out how to best use scarce government resources to improve the way government serves the community, particularly relating to digital and disaster resilience projects and policies. This includes managing the administration of a digital restart fund to direct resources to the transformation of government services and operations.

What are your daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities?

I review project proposals, provide advice to senior stakeholders on how to assess and progress new digital policies, represent my department on working groups, support decision-making at steering committees and lead cross-cluster discussions to develop new strategies.

What does your successor need to know to succeed?

Speaking the same "language" as your key stakeholders, understanding the motivations of your stakeholders and doing the pre-work to build those relationships. Having strong support and channels of communications up the chain to manage conversations at multiple levels. Have a clear understanding of the non-negotiables and always seek the common ground. Know how to prioritise according to risk and impact, not urgency.

What are some current projects you're working on?

I'm looking at how to improve and coordinate the state's investment in digital and ICT projects in an effective and sustainable way. I'm also working with our resilience department to develop the State Resilience Strategy.
