What’s the best advice you ever received? What tips did you wish you knew earlier? How did this help you on your career journey?

We’ve spoken to members of the Apolitical community to share their top three pieces of career advice with us. In this article, Laura Bathurst explains why it’s important to be passionate about your work in their role as a team leader.

Your first piece of advice:

The best way you can get your next promotion/ step-up/ new job is to be great at the job you have now. Dedicate yourself and the rewards will flow.

Your second piece of advice:

Be passionate about your work. If you spend 40+ hours a week doing something, you need to enjoy it!

Your third piece of advice:

Swallow the frog! If there is a task you are not looking forward to doing, do it first thing in the morning. This will give you a great sense of accomplishment for the day and stop you from getting behind.
