The Government AI Campus
Apolitical has received a $5 million grant from Google.org to scale up our ambitious Government AI Campus program. The AI Campus will train 1 million public servants in AI over the next 2 years, to build AI-capable governments which can succeed in the age of AI.
The Government AI Campus is a trusted knowledge and learning hub for governments – and the world’s 200 million civil servants – on governing and applying the technology.

Event Description
In 2024, more than half the world’s population will vote. AI has the potential to enhance voter accessibility, but it could also increase misinformation and bias. How, exactly, will AI impact elections? And, more broadly, how will AI impact democracy?
Our speakers will explore how the public service can adopt and adapt to AI, how it can enhance democratic processes and what actions are necessary to protect governments from risks.

Sagar Vishnoi, currently working on the intersection of AI & Politics, is a political campaigner and communications expert. Sagar has been part of various political war rooms since 2013 where he helped politicians and political parties n forming communication strategies, application of strategy on ground from local candidates to Presidential Elections in South East Asia. He has worked with Member of Legislative Assemblies, Member of Parliaments, Chief Minister’s Offices in various regional/national political parties. He keeps an eye on how artificial intelligence, emerging technology can impact politics & policy. Recently, he has contributed to the report " AI & Political leadership: Pitfalls and possibilities" by Apolitical Foundation as an expert.
David Evan Harris, Chancellor’s Public Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and continuing lecturer at the Haas School of Business, teaches courses including AI Ethics for Leaders; Social Movements & Social Media; Civic Technology; and Scenario Planning & Futures Thinking. In his previous role at Meta (formerly Facebook), Harris managed teams of quantitative and qualitative researchers working on responsible AI, social impact, and civic integrity. During his close to five years with the company, he and his teams covered topic areas including AI fairness and inclusion; AI governance and accountability; global election integrity; misinformation; coordinated inauthentic behavior; hate speech; human rights; political violence; harassment and online safety for activists, journalists, and politicians; community organizing; civic participation; racial justice; authoritative information; volunteering and non-profit organizations.
Dr. Nicol Turner Lee, a senior fellow in Governance Studies, the director of the Center for Technology Innovation and serves as Co-Editor-In-Chief of the TechTank blog and podcast at the Brookings Institution, which is a global think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C. Dr. Turner's research encompasses equitable access to technology across the U.S. and abroad. Her portfolio also includes leading Brookings institutional research and public policy work focused on the identification and mitigation of online biases in artificial intelligence systems. She has a forthcoming book on the U.S. digital divide titled Digitally Invisible: How the Internet is Creating the New Underclass (forthcoming August, 2024, Brookings Press). She has appeared throughout various news media, testified before Congress and international global governance bodies, and written extensively on tech and telecom issues. In 2022, she was recognized for distinguished career contributions by the American Sociological Association at the annual conference. She has her B.A. from Colgate University, and her Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
