Event Description
Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is a framework of interconnected digital systems and services designed to facilitate efficient public service delivery. It’s similar to building a system of roads and highways, but it exists in the digital realm to support online services.
DPI has the potential to reshape how the public sector operates. That’s why it’s essential for public servants and policymakers to know what it is and how it works. At this event, we heard from global experts with experience helping countries adopt digital technologies at the national scale across various sectors, exploring how the principles of DPI can contribute towards a digital transformation journey.

Viraj Tyagi, CEO of eGov Foundation. He is passionate about the impact of a jugalbandi of Digital Public Goods, policies, and ecosystems in solving complex societal problems at scale and speed. Before joining the impact sector, Viraj was an entrepreneur and corporate leader with wide-ranging experience in building large businesses in Europe and India. He is a serial entrepreneur, an active investor in start-ups, and a mentor to entrepreneurs. Viraj was the CEO and co-founder of NettPositive – one of the first Big Data and Analytics companies in India. He is also a co-founder of the fintech start-up – Finnable. He is on the board of several start-ups and companies. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIM-B) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT – BHU).
Azhar Malik, Digital Advisor for UNDP Malawi. Azhar leads the provision of technical assistance from UNDP to key institutions across the public, private, and academic sectors in Malawi. With a robust professional foundation in Democratic Governance, Azhar brings over 25 years of experience in both development and post-conflict settings, navigating complex challenges with adeptness. His extensive career includes leading democratic and digital governance projects in Pakistan, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. His areas of expertise encompass Digital Public Infrastructure, focusing on developing Digital ID solutions, E-Governance initiatives, and democratic governance programming.
Ibrahim Mamma, Senior Manager of Country Engagement at Digital Impact Alliance. He comes from a diverse background of expertise in economic development, public policy, and digital transformation. As a passionate advocate for digitalization and digital transformation, he has worked in harnessing the power of technology to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development. With a strong background in multi-country initiatives, he has led innovative programs that bridge the digital divide and empower communities across various regions. An economist by training, Ibrahim has specialised in public policy analysis and governance, business process improvement, and re-engineering. He has worked in the capacity of public service advisory, management consulting, and program management across multiple sectors.
