Amidst the climate crisis, public servants are at the forefront of building administrations capable of confronting the challenge head-on.
This international virtual gathering marks the first year of the Government Climate Campus. It continues the conversations started at ‘Building Climate Capable Governments’, a roundtable organised by Apolitical and the UAE Government at COP28.
Join us as we turn the lessons learned into a global movement, building climate-capable governments to meet the defining challenge of our time.

André Luiz Campos de Andrade , an economist with over 20 years of experience in the public sector, has been a member of the Public Policy and Government Management Specialist career in the Ministry of Management and Innovation since 2006. He specialises in issues related to climate change, the environment and public governance and has published widely in academic journals and newspapers. Since April 2023 he has been Director of the Department of Support for the National Council on Climate Change and the Interministerial Committee on Climate Change of the National Secretariat for Climate Change of the MMA, where he directs actions related to climate articulation and governance.
Tonia Clark, Principal Finance and Bids Officer in the Net Zero Team at Birmingham City Council, is a Chartered Management Accountant who has worked predominately in the not for profit sector in a variety of finance roles. Tonia has also been a trustee of several charities and is currently chair of Birmingham TreePeople.
Lize Jennings-Boom, , lead of the Climate Change Mitigation Programme at the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape Government, has been working in the climate change space for the last 15 years. Her work at the moment includes the development of a 2050 Emissions Pathway which defines the Western Cape’s trajectory to net-zero by 2050. This will include the compiling of detailed sectoral strategies as well as supporting other strategic work areas within the Western Cape Government, such as energy security, sustainable transport and building efficiency.
