The UK civil service is (once again) changing how it recruits, replacing success profiles with a model that will emphasise skills and expertise. Whatever framework you're applying against, strong applications still need the same thing: clear, specific evidence of what you did and what changed because of it.
Strong examples help decision-makers understand the skills you'd bring to the role, not just how you work day to day. They also help you apply for roles across different teams, professions and grades, even if your contributions have been complex or hard to measure.
In this session, we'll break down what makes an example compelling and show how to build one from past experiences. You'll learn how to choose the right story, frame your actions and outcomes and turn your experience into evidence that holds up under any application format. The event will leave you with a repeatable method for preparing examples that feel concrete, credible and easy to assess.

This event will take place on MS Teams. Joining instructions will be displayed once you register. The event will be recorded and the recording will be sent to all registrants. Gregor Henderson
Learning and Development Programme Manager, UK Home Office
Gregor Henderson, who began his Civil Service career as an 18-year-old Team Leader in the Department for Work and Pensions. He has since progressed to Grade 7, holding a range of operational and strategic leadership roles across government. He now leads a training team within the Home Office and founded the Scotland Junior Leaders Network, supporting the development of junior colleagues across Scotland.
