The city of Edmonton has convened a task force of business leaders, academics, charities and religious organisations to end poverty within a generation. The partnership, which the city awarded $1.86 million over two years, brought in businesses by demonstrating that economic development was in their interest. It aims to tackle a long list of things that contribute to poverty, starting by reducing transit fares for low-income families
