What is the Centre of Competence for Digital and AI Upskilling?
In partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy and Microsoft, UNDP Kenya is co-creating an Africa Centre of Competence for Digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skilling. This centre is designed to empower public servants, like you, across Africa with the skills and competencies needed to accelerate digital transformation in your government.
How does this programme relate to the Centre of Competence?
This programme is aligned with the Centre of Competence for Digital & AI Skilling by equipping you with the material you need to foster data-driven decision-making, ethical digital governance, and scalable digital transformation across Kenya.
Who is eligible to participate in the programme?
Kenyan public servants, whether they are leaders, work in technical roles, or use or create digital or AI tools, have been invited to join this programme.
Who was the programme designed for?
This programme was designed for a wide range of Kenyan public servants, including technical and non-technical leaders, technical experts, and users of digital or AI tools. It is based on extensive consultations with Kenyan public servants which served to highlight their unique needs, challenges and digital goals.
How do I enrol on the programme?
You should have received an email from Apolitical with detailed instructions to sign up for the platform. If you did not or you are having trouble signing up, please email concierge@apolitical.co
Where can I find the programme material?
The content is tailored to your role. Visit the main learning hub and select the section titled “I'm here to learn: Start your customised learning journey.” Choose the hub that matches your role to access your curated content.
Are the surveys compulsory?
Yes, completing the surveys is mandatory. There are two surveys—a baseline and an endline—which you are expected to complete. The survey links will be sent to you via email, so please take them as soon as you receive the email. Each survey takes about 10–15 minutes to complete.
What role do the case studies play?
The case studies are designed and written specifically with the Kenyan and broader African context in mind. They illustrate the role that digital can play in service delivery and why all public servants need to upskill themselves in these areas.
How many courses can I take?
As many as you like.
How many articles should I read?
As many as you like.
What is a community and who can join one?
A community is an online space for connecting with fellow public servants from around the world to share insights on various topics.
How long will I retain access to the learning?
You will have access to the training for the entire duration of the programme. At the programme's conclusion, you will have the option to opt in if you wish to continue accessing the Apolitical platform. If you choose not to opt in, your account will be deactivated when the programme ends.
Do I get a certificate of completion?
The programme doesn’t offer a certificate, but you’ll get one for every course you complete.
