The new Government AI 100, celebrating public servants leading and innovating in AI and updated for 2026, was published by Apolitical today.Â
Government plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI: determining how generative tools can deliver faster, smarter public services, and how they will influence institutions, economies and societies. The Government AI 100 showcases those leaders and innovators driving AI adoption, capacity building and regulation within government.
Apolitical published the Government AI 100 for the first time last year. We have refreshed it for 2026 to reflect the rapid pace of technological change, shifting global priorities and individuals’ changing roles, as well as the emergence of new champions within the industry.Â
The 2026 publication showcases 55 new leaders, including Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information; Simon King, Director of UK Public Sector AI Adoption; and Paula Ingabire, Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation.
By spotlighting AI initiatives from governments across the world, we aim to inspire public servants to consider how AI can unlock the potential in their work.
The shortlist of nominees were independently reviewed by three external experts with demonstrable expertise in AI: Leonardo Quattrucci, Adjunct Professor, Innovation Management at Sciences Po; Gulsanna Mamediieva, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown, former Director General at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine; and Dr Preet Deep Singh, Vice President at Apna.Co.
The Government AI 100 is published as part of the Government AI Campus, a trusted hub for AI excellence in government, supporting 1 million public servants to lead in the age of AI. Through the AI Campus, public servants can connect with a global community of peers and access world-class training, expert-led events, tools and insights, all designed with and for public servants.
