AI Acceptable Use Terms
These AI Acceptable Use Terms ("AI Terms") apply to Your use of any part of the Service which uses technologies powered by or based on artificial intelligence ("AI Tools"), and form part of the Terms and Conditions between Apolitical and You. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between any terms in the Terms and Conditions and these AI Terms as they relate to the AI Tools, the provisions of these AI Terms shall prevail. Any capitalised terms used in these AI Terms that are not otherwise defined, shall be as defined in the Terms and Conditions.
In using such AI Tools, You are responsible for ensuring Your use complies with these AI Terms.
These AI Terms form part of the Terms and Conditions. By accepting the Terms and Conditions (including by clicking to agree when creating or accessing Your account), You also accept these AI Terms. No separate acceptance of these AI Terms is required.
We conduct monitoring for unacceptable, illegal or inappropriate uses of the AI Tools across the ApoliticalService, and may at our discretion revoke Your access to the Service and our AI Tools in response to a potential or real breach of these AI Terms, in line with our Terms and Conditions.
You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information You input into AI Tools.
Without limiting the general prohibitions set out in our Terms and Conditions, You must not use AI Tools for any of the following purposes:
Illegal Activities
Any activity that is illegal under Applicable Laws.
Generating, disseminating or facilitating Content that constitutes or incites hate speech, discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic under the UK’s Equality Act 2010, the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 2 of 2015 on Combating Discrimination and Hatred, or equivalent legislation.
Creating, distributing or facilitating any Content that is defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive or constitutes misrepresentation.
Any activity that violates intellectual property rights, including copyright infringement or the unauthorised reproduction of third-party content.
Any activity involving the unlawful collection, processing or transfer of personal data, including data scraping or profiling without lawful basis.
Any activity that facilitates bribery, corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing or sanctions evasion, contrary to the Bribery Act 2010, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism, or equivalent legislation.
Harmful Activities
Generating or distributing Content designed to manipulate, deceive or psychologically harm individuals or groups, including the creation of disinformation or influence operations.
Generating or distributing Content that targets, exploits or endangers children or vulnerable persons.
Generating or distributing Content that promotes or facilitates self-harm, suicide or violence against any person.
Circumventing, manipulating or undermining democratic processes, electoral integrity or governmental decision-making, including lobbying or launching personalised campaigns.
Generating or distributing deepfakes, synthetic media or other Content that falsely attributes statements or actions to real individuals, particularly public officials or government representatives.
Any activity that could cause material harm to Apolitical's reputation, its members, partners, or the communities it serves in line with our Values and Guidelines.
Security
Attempting to reverse-engineer, extract, replicate or otherwise misuse the underlying models, training data, prompts or infrastructure of any AI tool on the platform.
Planning or facilitating cyber attacks, social engineering, phishing, malware creation or any other malicious technical activity.
Attempting to manipulate the AI Tools through prompt injection, jailbreaking or other adversarial techniques intended to circumvent these AI Terms or the Terms and Conditions.
Impersonating Apolitical, its employees, partners or any other organisation or individual.
Misuse of the Purpose of the Service.
Using for purposes unrelated to professional development, learning, policy knowledge or the legitimate public sector objectives for which the Service is designed.
Generating Content for commercial gain outside of the scope of the Terms and Conditions, or in breach of any institutional licence.
Generating or circulating political propaganda, partisan advocacy or campaign materials.
Personal, Classified and Sensitive Data
Processing of personal data, including Sensitive Personal Data as defined in the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) (the “PDPL”) and special categories of data as defined in Article 9 of the UK GDPR, of other individuals unless You have independently verified that You have a valid lawful basis to do so and may otherwise process such data in compliance with all applicable data protection laws.
Entering data that is classified, restricted or marked as confidential by Your government, organisation or institution.
Entering trade secrets, commercially sensitive information or proprietary data belonging to Your organisation or a third party without appropriate written authorisation.
Restrictions
Without limiting any other restrictions set out in these AI Terms or the Terms and Conditions, You must not (and must ensure that any user accessing the Service through Your account does not):
use the Service, any AI-generated outputs or any information obtained by You through the Service to develop, train or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning models, separate from Your authorised use of the Service under the Terms and Conditions;
use any automated or programmatic method to extract data, including any AI-generated outputs or any information obtained by You through the Service, including scraping, web harvesting or web data extraction, except as expressly permitted by Apolitical;
represent AI-generated outputs and/or other information obtained by You through the Service as having been approved or vetted by Apolitical, or as constituting an original work or a wholly human-generated work; or
use AI-generated outputs and/or other information obtained by You through the Service for any automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on individuals, unless You do so with adequate human review and in compliance with Applicable Laws.
Use of Outputs
Apolitical believes AI should enhance human work, not replace it. You must apply the same principle in Your own engagement with the AI Tools, and ensure that You apply appropriate judgement and verification when using outputs.
You must not use AI-generated outputs without adequately fact-checking or verifying the accuracy of the outputs. Without prejudice to the restrictions set out above, You must also ensure that decisions, workflows and processes that carry material consequences, including but not limited to policy decisions, legal determinations, resource allocation, personnel decisions or any action that could affect the rights, wellbeing or interests of individuals or communities, are not made solely on the basis of AI-generated outputs and are appropriately reviewed by a qualified human, or group of humans, in compliance with Applicable Laws.
You remain subject to Your organisation's own policies, codes of conduct and ethical obligations. These AI Terms do not limit or replace those obligations; they operate alongside them. You should consult Your institution's guidance on the use of the AI Tools where relevant.
As stated in the Terms and Conditions, the Service and Content is provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered to constitute advice. This applies to all AI Tools provided as part of the Service. Apolitical does not warrant the accuracy, completeness or quality of the outputs provided by AI Tools.
