Each year, Earth Day offers the chance to reflect on what we’ve done for the planet over the past year, and to consider what more we could be doing.
This year’s theme is Invest in the Planet, and challenges us to consider: what does investing in the planet really look like? From resources to policies to time, how can we invest in the planet to secure a greener, more sustainable future?
Watch this free online workshop, organised in honour of Earth Day, to learn about how public servants can invest in the planet. You’ll hear about strategies public servants can use to fight climate change and promote greener policies, inside and outside of the public service.

Rebecca Hellard, Health and Social Care Climate Adaptation and Decarbonisation Delivery Lead, Welsh Government. Rebecca joined the Civil Service through the Fast Stream and has since developed a passion for climate and environment policy. As a co-chair of the environment network, Rebecca hopes to increase the opportunities available to Civil Servants to learn and upskill themselves about climate change and the environment.
Amy Campbell, Private Secretary to Director General of Business at Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Amy applied to the Civil Service Fast Stream to pave a career in climate policy. She has previous experience in the social mobility space, having benefitted from the support of the charity upReach, as well as in the humanitarian sector working on food systems transformation and the Sustainable Development Goals. As co-chair of the Civil Service Environment Network, she aims to make climate policy more socio-economically inclusive, and to improve cross-government coordination on climate policy.
Charlotte Araya Moreland, Trees and Forestry Policy Advisor at the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Charlotte joined the Civil Service via the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in 2019, and has since worked across multiple policy and delivery roles including at the Department for Education and now at the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs. As Co-Chair for the Civil Service Environment Network, Charlotte is particularly interested in making environmental policy accessible for all civil servants, regardless of expertise.
