Open Government: How to Be Transparent, Participatory and Accountable

Governments exist to serve the public. Improving the relationship between people and their governments can create long-term benefits for everyone.

Open Government is an attempt to do just that. Governments across the world, from the local to the national level, are already working with each other and the public and seeing the benefits.

This course is an introductory course that will set you up to join in and apply the approaches and principles of Open Government in your own context.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Explain the benefits of Open Governments

• Apply its core principles to existing policy areas

• Investigate how it links to priority policy areas 

• Decide on practical steps you can take to make a difference within your area of influence
