Mongolia has connected thousands of rural herders to the social and commercial advantages of the internet by partnering with the World Bank and mobile phone providers. An innovative financing model overcame the apparent commercial unviability of providing internet to rural herders and so increased the number of people using the internet in villages from 300 in 2006 to 12,000 in 2013.
