We Must Stop Calling It Artificial Intelligence

Intelligence is human.

It carries judgment, ethics, accountability, and consequences. What we call AI does none of that. So let’s be precise — and honest. A Necessary Shift in Language

AI is not intelligence.

AI does not think.

AI does not understand responsibility.

What we call “Artificial Intelligence” is actually:

Pattern execution

Statistical inference

Decision automation

Cognitive acceleration

But never accountability.

Better Names for What AI Really Is If we rename AI correctly, governance becomes clearer:

Artificial Execution (AE) – it executes, it doesn’t decide

Machine Reasoning Systems (MRS) – reasoning without moral agency

Synthetic Cognition Engines (SCE) – cognition without consciousness

Decision Support Infrastructure (DSI) – support, not authority

Computational Intelligence (CI) – intelligence without ethics

The moment we stop calling it “intelligent,” we stop delegating responsibility to machines.

The Cost of Intelligence Is Human Intelligence comes with a price:

Accountability

Ethical judgment

Legal liability

Moral consequence

Machines pay none of these costs.

Humans pay all of them.

So, when AI fails, it is not an AI failure, it is a human design failure.

The Real Equation

AI ≠ Intelligence

AI = Power without accountability

Which means:

The brighter the system, the greater the human responsibility behind it.

Let’s rename AI — not to downgrade it, but to put responsibility back where it belongs.
