War-torn national park saved with jobs and healthcare

The Mozambican government restored the country's foremost national park by bringing in tens of millions of dollars to reintroduce wildlife, boost employment and provide healthcare for locals. After the park had been ravaged by three decades of civil conflict, the project aimed to protect its long-term future by tying it to opportunities for the local population. As part of a 20-year deal with American philanthropist Greg Carr, the park provides employment for 500 Mozambicans and heath and education programs for 100,000.
