Bangladesh has partnered with a university and a vehicle manufacturer to bring three-wheeled, solar-powered ambulances to remote parts of the country. Traditional ambulances are often too large to fit narrow rural roads, and cost up to $30,000. The van bicycles, which have the same medical equipment as Bangladesh's standard ambulances, will cost $1,900 to $2,500 each, and run independent of the country's overextended national grid.
