San Francisco is addressing economic barriers faced by the transgender community by funding an organisation that helps trans and gender non-conforming people find work. The Trans Employment Program provides one-on-one mentoring, legal and financial services and inclusion training for employers. Some 47% of transgender people in the US report being unfairly fired or denied employment, and 76% say they have been harassed in the workplace.
