From the implications of artificial intelligence to the urgency of climate change, modern governance faces pressures that demand thoughtful re-evaluation and renewal. Recognizing this need, Demos Helsinki, The Institutional Architecture Lab (TIAL), and Transition Collective are collaborating to launch a dedicated community here on Apolitical.

Why Now Is the Time to Reimagine Governance

Throughout history, pivotal moments have compelled societies to reshape their institutions. During the Industrial Revolution, establishing systems like early childhood education was essential for societal progress. Today, we find ourselves at another such crossroads. The institutions that have carried us thus far are often constrained by traditional models that no longer match the scale or speed of current challenges. It's time to collectively rethink how our institutions are designed and how they can better serve the public good.Institutions are more than administrative structures; they reflect the values, aspirations, and resilience of societies. By reimagining public institutions, we open opportunities for solutions that more effectively address today's complex challenges. It's essential to have a space for questioning, sharing, and collaborating—not only to envision what doesn't yet exist but also to reconsider what could be achieved within existing systems. Through dialogue and shared insights, we aim to build a common vocabulary and foster the collective capacity to lead change.

Introducing the 'Reimagining Public Institutions' Community

With this in mind, we are pleased to invite you to join our Reimagining Public Institutions Community of Practice. This space has been thoughtfully developed for civil servants, policymakers, and innovators who wish to explore new models of governance and share knowledge with peers across the globe.

Together with others who share the same vision, we are co-creating this community as a place for:

• A Safe Space for Exploration: Engage in open and meaningful conversations about the future of public institutions.
• Support and Encouragement: Empower members to embrace change and take the first steps toward initiating organizational transformation or even building new institutions when needed.
• Access to Impactful Approaches: Share practical tools, frameworks, and methods that support experimentation in leading and organizing public institutions.
• Building a Network of Doers and Thinkers: Foster a community for peer learning, where members can share experiences and learn from one another's journeys in institutional innovation.

While innovative efforts are happening across public sectors worldwide, they often remain isolated. Civil servants frequently encounter similar challenges:

• How to do it right? Not knowing where to begin, how to evaluate initiatives, and how to avoid potential pitfalls.

This community is designed to break down those silos, allowing us to share knowledge, support one another, and explore new ideas together.
