Phoenix has boosted its largest downtown boom since before the Second World War by making the area vibrant enough to attract new businesses. The city set up a non-profit to co-ordinate community leaders with officials and businesspeople and to attract investment for their projects, such as new shops and arts spaces. The partners also advertise the area's amenities and redesign streetscapes to make them more attractive to pedestrians
