Paris has found a way to have its bike share scheme paid for an advertising partnership, in a model that has now been replicated in cities around the world. Launched in 2007, Vélib' overcame persistent theft and vandalism, and now earns the city $21 million annually, with the bikes used for 27.5 million trips every year. The model has been replicated in Córdoba, Spain, Vienna, Kazan, Turkey, and Brisbane, Australia.
