Costa Rica has set up a nationwide forum allowing businesses, organisations and civil society representatives to jointly reform the pineapple trade and improve its notoriously poor social and environmental record. The platform gives groups throughout the production chain a chance to discuss their needs and demands. It has produced a 12-point action plan outlining how workers rights, environmental sustainability and best trade practices in the industry can be promoted.
