How would you describe your job to a friend?

I am a leader in conservation management in a government set-up, managing a total of 80 staff operating in four National Parks and across regional services. I am responsible for human resource management, budget control and expenditure, monitoring and inspections, and leading the region at management level. My skill and experience are embedded in biodiversity conservation, environmental education, community development, natural and wildlife resources management, environmental management wildlife law enforcement, management plan and policy formulation, to name but a few.

What are your daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities?

I lead an organisation of 80 staff working in four different National Parks. I manage, monitor, inspect, budget control and expenditure, manage staff in order to attain efficiency and effectiveness at work. I organise capacity building in order to empower staff in executing their functions and duties.

What does your successor need to know to succeed?

They need to know the organisational culture, its vision and mission, policies, laws, and strategies that drive the organisation.

What are some current projects you're working on?

Funds are a constraint and they are not much. We’re working on Infrastructure development in parks, implementation of a biodiversity monitoring framework in one of our big parks, and the establishment of tourism concessions. We’re also looking at implementation of park management plans.
