University and businesses help ease veterans into civilian life

The US has brought together an army base, a university and local businesses to help vulnerable veterans get housing, education and jobs. In helping them make the transition to civilian life, the project has also provided thousands with mental healthcare. Veterans are more likely to be unemployed, homeless and mentally ill than the civilian population, and the project compiles data on each veteran's needs to create a model other communities can replicate.
