Cities use purchasing power to develop clean-up technology

The EU has brought together cities and businesses to develop the new technologies needed to turn contaminated industrial sites into urban oases. Instead of cities buying a range of products from a range of companies, the project gets specialist firms to combine their expertise and do the work in a more streamlined way. This process also highlights where the technology falls short of what cities need, and prompts research to fill the gap.
