We’ve asked a diverse group of Apolitical members to share their career story with us and the tips they have for junior public servants. In this article, Devanshi Vyas explains why it’s important to be enthusiastic and eager in their role as a policy and business support manager.

I was working as an Analyst in a laboratory for the Scottish Government's scientific agency.

In your opinion, what are the most important skills someone needs to excel in your field?

Resilience, self-belief and eagerness to learn.

What is your favourite part of your job?

The continuous process of learning and creating institutional memories.

What advice would you give to new public servants who are interested in a career in your field?

Be enthusiastic, eager and ask lots of questions.
