Career advice from a talent manager

What’s the best advice you ever received? What tips did you wish you knew earlier? How did this help you on your career journey?

We’ve spoken to members of the Apolitical community to share their top three pieces of career advice with us. In this article, Hina Adams explains why it’s important to be yourself in their role as a Talent Manager.

Your first piece of advice:

FAO introverts: contrary to popular belief, you absolutely do have the ability to be a leader! Don't shy away from making it clear to others that you need time and space to reflect instead of forming 'on the spot' decisions or opinions. Being an introvert is nothing to be ashamed of.

Your second piece of advice:

Be unapologetically you! Authenticity is key in life altogether and often in our careers, we see an example of what good looks like and imitate it. Instead, try to adapt rather than imitate and be proud of who you are, your background, your education, your experience, your character. Be you!

Your third piece of advice:

Don't be afraid to challenge - both people and processes. Sometimes uncomfortable conversations often need to be had to do better.
